The Adam Project — Review
Yet another time travel flick
A few days ago, I discovered the trailer of the new blockbuster film, “The Adam Project”, and today, decided to watch it on Netflix. It was not so surprising, as the movie did not live up to the hype. A star studded cast can make a film seem attractive, but it cannot magically enhance the script. Overall it is a pop-corn movie, that you will probably enjoy on the weekend, but it will not be remembered as THE time travel film.
In the past, we have seen some great time travel films, such as, “Looper”, “About time”, “Deja Vu” and of course, “Terminator”. Unfortunately, for a film buff, especially who loves time travel films, will be dissapointed, as it has no uniqueness. Yes, some dialogues are witty, deep and grab your attention for most of the film, but there is a part of you that says, “why am I watching this?”, “when will this end?”
If the writer had equally given more room to the lead characters, as in, a background story, it would make a better experience for the viewer. Without going into technicalities or spoilers, I would simply say that this film is literally OTT (over the top)! If you are fan of Ryan Reynolds then it will make your day, but if you are looking for an intense sci-fi flick, then you might as well watch a foreign time travel film or “Dark” (Netflix TV series).
